Dear Young Woman,
This letter is for you. Just for you. It is an ode to life, death, and everything that lies in between.
You may experience unimaginable loss.
You may experience unbelievable heartbreak.
You may experience your soul being shattered in pieces that may seem way too many to ever pick up again.
You may be left by the love of your life.
Your values may be put to trial when you least expect it.
And when everybody tells you to be optimistic in one moment, the next one you might feel like you’re losing the ground beneath your feet.
There may be days where you may want to get out of bed.
There may be days where you are asking yourself what it’s all worth.
There may be days where you find it the hardest thing to not shed countless tears.
You may sometimes just lay on your couch and wonder if you will ever get up again.
You may sometimes feel a loneliness that is beyond words.
You may sometimes ask if it is ever going to change.
You may sometimes feel a loneliness that is beyond words.
You may sometimes ask if it is ever going to change.
In those moments, my dear young woman,
I want you to remember that…
The sun shines every day no matter how many clouds there are in the sky.
You’re capable of experiencing the most beautiful joy that there is.
Your hands will always be held.
You will always have somewhere to lean on.
You’re capable of so much more than you can imagine.
The world needs your light. So, let it shine brightly. If others are blinded by it, then it’s their job to put on sunglasses.
Your smile can be the only one someone sees today.
Putting yourself first is mandatory.
The most important person in your life is you.
Nobody deserves more space in your life than you.
So, put the love you so freely share with others more often on you.
Make your health a priority.
And do what you love more often.
Because all we may be intended to do here on this earth is to learn and do our best while we’re at it.
So, remember…
Everything is temporary.
It is all up to you.
Accepting the past doesn’t mean that what happened was right.
Letting go is necessary to grow.
In order to become a butterfly, the caterpillar has to leave its past life behind.
